Let`s talk First Amendment

 

The 1st Amendment protects your right to believe and practice whatever religious principles you choose and your right to say what you believe, even if it is unpopular or against the will of elected officials.

It also protects your right to publish any information you want, join together with whomever you want and ask the government to correct its own errors.

What exactly does the 1st Amendment mean and how does it apply to people today? Does it have relevance to you today? It sure does. In fact, it affects just about everything you do.

The 1st Amendment has seven clauses. This page has a brief description of each clause with links to more detailed information about the history and purpose of each section.

 

 

The Establishment Clause is the part of the 1st Amendment that says Congress shall make no law "respecting an establishment of religion." This is a very crucial part of the American Constitution. It prohibits the government from establishing a state religion or denomination and from directing people in what they must believe.

Without the Establishment Clause, the government could choose a state religion and force everyone to participate in it. It could also punish anyone who didn't adhere to its chosen faith.

This clause has been the focus of much debate in the last half century. Some Americans believe that whenever the government is involved, absolutely all religious expression must be forbidden in order to comply with the Establishment Clause.

For example, they might say a public school football team should not pray at a football game because the school is a government funded school.

Other Americans believe the government must make certain allowances for religious expressions in public events and buildings because Americans are a very religious people. They believe a high school football team prayer or a government employee displaying a cross at work does not violate the Establishment Clause because it is simply a personal expression and not an expression endorsed by the state.

The Free Exercise Clause is the part of the 1st Amendment that says Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion or "the free exercise thereof." This phrase deals with the restriction on Congress to regulate anyone's religious practices.

 

In general, Congress cannot tell people how they can or cannot express their religious beliefs. Such things as telling people when or how to pray, when they should go to church or to whom they should pray, are off limits to lawmakers.

 

In general, this is the case, but sometimes, minority religious groups may want to practice something that is not generally accepted or that the state has a very strong interest in regulating. For example, polygamy, ritual sacrifice and drug usage have been banned at times, because there is a compelling public interest in eliminating these behaviors.

 

In such cases, the Supreme Court has often ruled that the Free Exercise Clause does not apply. In other words, the Free Exercise Clause does not give free license to any

 

 

Indeed, in the minds of some, banning expressions of religious faith like this is a violation of another clause of the 1st Amendment - the Free Exercise Clause, because it seeks to control the religious expressions of citizens.

Pastors Launch Offensive Strike: Flood Houston Lesbian Mayor’s Office with Bibles and Sermons



 report is out, in the wake of the city of Houston's demands that area pastors hand over their sermons and communication with their members, saying that there is a national movement of American pastors who are going on the offensive. These pastors are banding together in a theme reminiscent of the Star Wars' saga's "The Empire Strikes Back." Their movement is called, "The Pastors Strike Back."




Pastors from across the fruited plain have decided to come together and voluntarily send Bibles and sermons to Mayor Annise Parker's office.
Former Governor Mike Huckabee called on every pastor in America to do this recently.
"I hope she gets thousands and thousands of sermons and Bibles," said Huckabee on his Fox News show Saturday.

Author Eric Metaxas also did the same thing. He told David Brody, "Never in our history has religious freedom been so brazenly defied. A bold red line has been crossed. The Houston mayor's inexcusable demand to see the sermons of pastors is an outrageous and shocking affront to all Americans and to liberty itself. If the American church does not rise up and stand against this, there is no American church."
Brody also was able to acquire a home video of Brad Atkins, pastor of Powersville First Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina as he sent his sermon off to Parker.




Apparently though, this issue that has been stirred up by the sodomite mayor and her administration has fired up pastors around the world. According to Brody, reports are the pastors from Australia, Germany and Canada will also be sending their sermons and Bibles to the Mayor.

"On November 2nd, The Family Research council is hosting a huge simulcast event in Houston at a big church," wrote Brody.  "Guests will include Mike Huckabee, Phil Robertson, the Benham brothers, Dr. Ronnie Floyd and others. In South Carolina, the South Carolina Pastors Alliance is staging an event called, "The Stand" to be held on the statehouse grounds."

This is exactly what needs to be done on a number of fronts. Americans need to come together to defeat the tyranny that is growing in our society. These pastors get my support for their willingness to stand up and launch an offensive on behalf of their brothers in Texas.

The city of Houston did take a step back from their larger subpoena that demanded sermons and communications of pastors to removing sermons from the request. However, that didn't fly with senior legal counsel Erik Stanley from Alliance Defending Freedom.

Stanley said, "The city of Houston still doesn't get it. It thinks that by changing nothing in its subpoenas other than to remove the word 'sermons' that it has solved the problem. That solves nothing. They must be rescinded entirely."

No doubt, this is what has provoked the pastors to take this initiative.
There comes a time when men must take a hard stand and that time is now. Texas preachers have already taken a stand. While I'm not sure that sending all those Bibles and sermons in will actually do anything, I do think it at least sends the message that Christians are not going to back down simply because there is intimidation by those elected to office who ignore the law and then attempt to impose immoral legislation on their citizens like Houston's "bathroom bill."

 
 

 

Irish Parents Reject Doctors' Pressure to Abort; Baby Born Healthy

It happens more than the pro-abortion community would like to admit: Doctors advise parents that the baby the mother is carrying will be born with tragic abnormalities and should be aborted — but then, miraculously, the baby is born completely whole and healthy.

Such was the case in Northern Ireland recently when Melanie and Damien Sheenan faced intense pressure from medical “experts” to end the life of the baby developing safely in Melanie's womb. An ultrasound at 20 weeks of pregnancy revealed what the doctors insisted was a serious “fetal abnormality.” The doctors informed the Sheenans that their baby's brain and spine had not formed. After further scans and diagnoses, doctors strongly advised that the sensible choice for the devastated couple was to abort the “fetus.”

“They didn’t even think his life would begin,” Damien told the UK's Christian Institute, adding that he and his wife were told that the baby would be incompatible with life.

Melanie said doctors insisted the child wouldn’t survive birth, and even if it did its disabilities would be so profound that it would have no quality of life. “I was put under immense pressure to go ahead with an abortion,” she said, and “we were made to feel we were doing something terribly wrong by wanting to keep our baby.”

She recalled that medical personnel called her on her cell and home phone to tell her “how many days and weeks that I had left until my 24-week cut-off [to have an abortion]. Whenever we went to appointments, the nurse in charge of the consultant would introduce us as ‘the couple who was continuing with the pregnancy against medical advice.'”

But the Sheenans resolutely decided to continue with the pregnancy despite the intense intrusion by doctors — and they were rewarded with the blessing of Joshua, now a healthy one-year-old baby boy and an active and rambunctious witness against the global abortion culture that has manipulated, bullied, and deceived parents into killing untold millions of babies.

“If we had gone with the doctors’ diagnosis he wouldn’t be here today,” said Melanie, “and I’d be living with the fact that I’d had an abortion and all the effects that might have had on me.”
Damien Sheenan added that Joshua is “the best thing that’s happened to our family. We couldn’t imagine our family without him now. Just to see the joy and the love that he brings to the house.”
Another woman in the U.K., Lisa Davison, shared a similar story recently of being pressured by doctors to have an abortion, and the reward she received when she refused.

Shortly into her pregnancy doctors told the 40-year-old Davison that her baby's amniotic sac was not attached to her womb. The additional discovery of a blood clot prompted doctors to warn Davison that both she and the baby may die if she did not terminate the pregnancy. “I was losing a lot of blood and they were really worried for me,” she recalled to LifeSiteNews.com. “I was in hospital for three months because I was bleeding so much, and everyday I was being told the baby wasn’t going to survive.”

Despite the pressure to abort her baby, “something in my head told me to keep him,” said Davison. “Somehow I was always sure he was going to be okay. Somehow I just always had the feeling he would make it.”
Davison's “feeling” turned out to be prophetic when little Danny was born by emergency Caesarean section at 33 weeks into the pregnancy, weighing just four pounds, four ounces.
Indeed, things were touch and go for Danny at birth, who needed help to breathe on his own and who soon developed necrotizing enterocolitis, a potentially deadly post-natal bowel infection not uncommon to premature babies.

“He was so ill he had to be resuscitated and then had blood transfusions,” recalled his mother. But following weeks of intensive care and surgery, things began to turn around for Danny.
Today the baby that doctors advised Lisa Davison to abort is a healthy seven-month-old. “When I look at him now, I really can’t believe it. He shouldn’t be here but he is, and he’s a joy to look at everyday,” Davison told her local newspaper, the Newcastle Chronicle.

While Davison said the pregnancy and birth of her third child was an “incredible journey, and a very hard one,” she added that “when I look back, I’m so happy I made the decision I did.”
The Sheenans are encouraging couples in situations similar to theirs — facing a pregnancy with an uncertain conclusion — to give their child the blessing of life despite what doctors warn.
“Even if mothers get hours, days, or weeks with their baby, they say that it is the most precious time,” Melanie advised. “And in our circumstance, the doctors’ diagnosis was completely incorrect.... If we would have [gone] with the doctors’ diagnosis, he wouldn’t be here today.”
She said that “the best advice I can give is to carry on, because it is still a life, and God still has a plan.”

U.K. Sells Bonds in China’s Currency, Adding Pressure on Dollar

Amid fast-growing pressure on the U.S. dollar’s status as the global reserve currency, authorities in the United Kingdom this week successfully issued sovereign bonds denominated in Communist China’s strictly controlled currency known as the yuan or renminbi. It was the first such bond issue in the Western world, and the largest non-Chinese bond ever sold, according to news reports. While the initial scheme was relatively small — worth about US$500 million, contrasted with about US$200 billion in yearly U.K. government borrowing — its implications for the dollar and the international monetary system could be profound in the longer term, analysts said.

The move by London is part of a broader trend that includes, among other elements, coordinated efforts by top establishment insiders from around the world to drastically re-shape the international monetary system. Essentially, the planet is gradually shifting away from the dollar as the unchallenged global reserve and moving toward a globalized currency regime run by the International Monetary Fund and other global institutions. The U.K.’s yuan-denominated bond issue came after the IMF boss said the outfit might someday move to Beijing from D.C., even as the Communist dictatorship there called for a “de-Americanized” so-called “New World Order.”

According to the IMF, China’s economy recently surpassed the U.S. economy as the largest in the world. While the claims are seriouly flawed, the announcement made major waves. Meanwhile, serious calls for an IMF-run planetary currency system have also grown louder around the world in recent years. Those calls feature escalating demands from governments everywhere for the expansion of the basket of currencies underpinning the IMF’s proto-global currency, known as Special Drawing Rights (SDRs), to include the yuan and other currencies of totalitarian-minded regimes.

In a 2009 report, the Chinese “people’s” central-bank boss, Zhou Xiaochuan, explained that “the desirable goal of reforming the international monetary system… is to create an international reserve currency that is disconnected from individual nations and is able to remain stable in the long run, thus removing the inherent deficiencies caused by using credit-based national currencies.” When asked about the Communist Chinese regime’s plot at a Council on Foreign Relations event, then-U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy “TurboTax” Geithner said, “We’re actually quite open to that.” With this week’s developments, that vision moved one step closer to becoming reality.
According to U.K. officials, proceeds from the bond issue will be used for the U.K. government’s foreign-exchange reserves, adding to the U.S. dollars, euros, Japanese yen, and Canadian dollars it already holds. Analysts said the move signals the yuan’s potential future as a global reserve currency. But the significance goes well beyond that. “For the U.K. it represents another attempt to become the eminent world financial center,” observed American economist Mark Thornton, a senior fellow with the Ludwig von Mises Institute. “For the U.S. it represents another small blow to the status of the dollar and U.S. financial markets.”
“The U.S. dollar has already lost its near monopoly position as a reserve currency and medium of international trade,” continued Thornton, associated with the free market-oriented Austrian school of economics. “The competitive position of the Chinese renminbi continues to improve in small ways. The question is whether this will be a multiple decade competition between the dollar and the renminbi, or whether the ‘dam will break’ like it did in WWI when the eminent currency status changed from the British pound to the US dollar.” He called the U.K. announcement the “first trickle through the dam.”
U.K. officials did not touch on the broader implications of the move. Still, U.K. Treasury chief George Osborne celebrated the sovereign renminbi bond issue as a “great success” that will supposedly “deliver value for money to taxpayers,” despite it costing more than raising the funds in other currencies. “Our long term economic plan is working, but the job isn’t done,” said Chancellor Osborne, who recently met with Communist Chinese bigwigs and other leading globalists at the secrecy-obsessed Bilderberg summit in Copenhagen. “We need to export to fast growing economies like China, and attract more investment to our shores.” 
To achieve those goals, Osborne claimed, “we need to make sure China’s currency is used and traded here, as that will be not only good for China, but good for British jobs and investment too.” Claiming London was “the global center for finance,” the controversial U.K. Treasury boss also said he was “delighted” to have taken the next big step in making the city “a major global center for trading and investing the [sic] Chinese currency too.” Numerous analysts also highlighted the importance of the bond issue, which came after the U.K. sold Islamic sharia-compliant bonds this summer, in further boosting London’s role as a key center for trade in yuan.
The yuan-denominated debt, referred to as “Dim Sum bonds,” is set to mature in three years. The U.K. issue — a major step toward further internationalizing the Chinese currency — was organized by Bank of China, HSBC, and Standard Chartered. Despite being loosened considerably in recent years, the yuan still faces heavy official restrictions on convertibility and non-domestic use. Many of those impediments to its more widespread use in trade and finance outside of China, though, are expected to be axed in the coming years — making the yuan even more appealing as a potential reserve. More than a few major companies have also issued yuan-denominated bonds in recent years.
Already, the renminbi has overtaken the euro, the troubled single European currency, as the top currency used in global trade finance after the U.S. dollar, according to Bloomberg. Demand for the new bonds was strong, too, pushing down the rate from the expected 2.9 percent to 2.7 percent. The U.K. Treasury’s move “recognizes the importance of renminbi as a reserve currency,” chief executive Au King Lun with Bank of China’s Hong Kong Asset Management was quoted as saying in the Wall Street Journal. “Other countries have exposure to renminbi but the U.K. is the first one to issue bonds in renminbi. It’s a very significant development.”

Writing in Forbes, Fellow Tim Worstall at the London-based Adam Smith Institute explained another key element of the U.K. move. “The basic thought here is that in order to construct a viable bond market you want to have some sovereign issues in that currency or of that structure to act as the risk free benchmark for other issuers,” he said. “It would be entirely possible for a corporate to issue renminbi bonds in London. It’s just that no one would really have any idea how to price it: there would be no comparators. Thus such borrowing would be very expensive: uncertainty over price in financial markets tends to make the price rather high. So issue sovereign bonds and that issue or issues can act as that pricing benchmark.”

Since World War II, the U.S. dollar has served as the world reserve currency. Initially, the privilege resulted from America’s unchallenged global power and the currency’s gold backing. When President Nixon severed the final link between the dollar and the precious metal in 1971, however, the Federal Reserve’s currency maintained its dominance because oil was priced in dollars — hence the term “petrodollar.” With the privately owned U.S. central bank conjuring unfathomable amounts of debt-backed dollars into existence, and with the globalist establishment increasingly working to dethrone the currency, analysts widely expect the dollar’s status as the global reserve to end. It may be sudden, or it may be slow, but it will come.

The Communist Chinese regime, which originally seized power with key support from the same globalist establishment that is still helping to orchestrate its rise to what billionaire George Soros touted as the leader of the “New World Order,” is playing a crucial role in the quiet de-dollarization process. From sidelining the U.S. dollar in international trade to using its propaganda organs to demand a “de-Americanized” world order, Beijing may end up being among the most important players in the demise of the dollar outside of the Federal Reserve and the U.S. government.      
Of course, if and when the dollar eventually loses its status as the global reserve currency, the implications for Americans and the U.S. economy would be hard to overstate. The gargantuan trade deficits fueled by government and central-bank policy, for example, would come to a screeching halt as prices for imports skyrocketed. The outlandish borrowing and spending spree taking place in Washington, D.C., meanwhile, would also have to end abruptly unless the Fed continued printing ever-greater sums of currency and loaning it to the government (with impossible-to-pay interest attached) — fueling an even more extreme collapse in the value of the dollar. Non-financial consequences could prove even more disastrous.

The good news is that the solution to the potentially looming calamity is relatively simple: Restore sound money and force the feds to obey the U.S. Constitution. However, that will require overwhelming public pressure on Congress, which at this point does not seem likely to materialize in time.

EU Tyranny: New Law against Democratically Dismantling EU from Within

It looks as if this new law is meant to serve as a severe roadblock to parties that would like to dismantle the EU in a democratic and peaceful way from within.
A rather dull semantic trick pro-EU figures usually apply, is calling their opponents "anti-Europe."

Two years ago, the European Commission proposed a law that would authorize an "independent authority" within the European Parliament [EP] to decide whether EP parties would receive an official legal status as EP parties. This legal status is needed for a party to obtain EP party subsidy, which is designed to cover 85% of party expenditures.

Despite a British and Dutch lobby against the law, it was passed by the EP on September 29, 2014.
Among the demands parties have to meet are that of "internal party democracy" and that they must "respect the values on which the European Union is based." Among these values are: "pluralism, non-discrimination, tolerance, justice, solidarity and equality between women and men." In addition, the parties must be active in at least 7 out of 28 EU member-state countries.
The law states that: "decisions regarding a party's respect for values on which the EU is based, may only be taken following a special procedure and in cooperation with a committee of independent prominent individuals."

Although the law does not specify the composition of this illustrious special committee, it is highly probable that Martin Schulz, the EP's chairman, is among them. Schulz is a German socialist who was reelected as EP chairman even though he was absent during the parliamentary debate for the position. Schulz is also known for strongly condemning the content and distribution of a film critical of Islam, "Innocence of Muslims," and for his disproportionate criticism of Israel.
Even though the committee is designated as an "independent authority," within the self-aggrandizing dynamic of the EU, one cannot be "prominent" and "independent" at the same time.
Therefore, prominent individuals within the EU are those that fully and without any reticence subscribe to the EU's mission of dismantling European nation states and furthering the EU's influence at the cost of national democracies.

Due to this law, it is highly probable that EU-skeptic party factions such as the "Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy" [EFDD], chaired by Nigel Farage of the UK Independence Party [UKIP], will no longer receive a subsidy. It is also likely that when, for example, EU-skeptic and anti-immigration parties like Marine le Pen's Front National and Geert Wilders' Freedom Party succeed in forming an EP faction, it will be denied a subsidy because the "independent committee" will decide that the faction does not subscribe to the EU's values of tolerance and pluralism.

A rather dull semantic trick pro-EU figures usually apply, is calling their opponents "anti-Europe." But as Europe is a continent, it is difficult to be against a continent. Anti-EU figures are against an organization that is increasingly overruling national democracies without the consent of their national populations.
The EU has been struggling for years with dwindling popularity among its member-state citizens. The rise of anti-EU parties in the European Parliament has been a jolting wake-up call for prominent pro-EU figures.

It looks as if this new law is meant to serve as a roadblock to parties that would like to dismantle the EU in a democratic and peaceful way from within. Only parties that do not deviate too much from the EU utopia of a federally-controlled European continent will be allowed to participate in the European Parliament without being obstructed, hindered or disadvantaged by that same EU. It indeed seems that if the EU cannot realize its ideals with the support of its citizens, it will simply do so without the support of its citizens.

If, in the future, the EU will further obstruct anti-EU in the European Parliament parties in their quest for dismantling the EU in a civil and democratic way, it may achieve the following downward spiral.
First, it will show the citizens of member states the rather tyrannical and utterly intolerant face of the EU. Second, this sentiment may further popularize and empower anti-EU parties to push for the democratic dismantlement of the EU from within. The EU may in turn respond with even more repressive measures to obstruct anti-EU parties in the European Parliament, which will make the EU even more unpopular among member state citizens and thus adding to the popularity of anti-EU parties.

It is impossible to predict how this standoff would end, but if this were to occur, it is possible that EU member states would decide nationally to simply leave the EU. This could be a very real scenario if, for example, the French Front National, British UKIP and Dutch Freedom Party would win majorities in national elections.

This would leave the EU in a dismembered state of chaos, which could have been prevented if the EU had allowed – without foul play and obstruction – European Parliament factions to push for the dissolution of the EU in a peaceful and democratic way
