The ATTEMPTED CALIFORNICATION OF RURAL TEXAS

Did you know that the City Council has rewritten the entire Pampa City Charter and have put 51 Charter Propositions on the November ballot? If you did not know this I refer you to the City of Pampa website where you can download the document.

There are some points with which, I am sure, we will agree. However, this lack of transparency on the part of the City Council is exactly what the Concerned Citizens of Pampa are trying to combat. Why were these 51 propositions not discussed with Pampa citizens before being placed on the ballot? Is this another, deliberate attempt to sneak past the Pampa people in the hopes that they are not paying attention.

For this reason, I would recommend that we vote straight "NO" on every item so that the Council is forced to discuss these measures with the public and so that everyone has a firmer understanding of WHAT exactly a "YES" vote would mean to us and our children and grandchildren.

We are concerned about the citizens of Pampa GIVING OUR authority away to the city and state. We need to keep the power and the only way to do that is to vote NO on all propositions and force communication with the citizens.

BUT, let's face it, if WE THE PEOPLE do not attend city council meetings and communicate with our commissioners who are supposed to represent WE THE PEOPLE, how do we expect them to represent us. Please join the Concerned Citizens of Pampa and not let the power be taken from us because we are not involved. Please make your voices heard. There is power in numbers.

Our Facebook page will keep you updated on meetings of the “Concerned Citizens of Pampa.”  Please attend and make your voices heard.
