"The Emperor's New Clothes" is a short tale by Hans Christian Andersen about two weavers who promise an Emperor a new suit of clothes that is invisible to those unfit for their positions, stupid, or incompetent. His arrogance and unbridled narcissism provide the setting for the most interesting metaphor in this wonderful tale of delusion versus innocent proclamation. A child exposes the obvious truth in a simple, bold and unbiased observation. "The Emperor has no clothes", ri...ngs out true and clear and the fear and contrition of the people falls away as the silliness of what they have been duplicitous in hiding even from themselves becomes obvious.
Welcome to 2014 America where the "Ruler of all He surveys" plays out his fraud on the worlds stage. The rest of the world laughs in disbelief at the fool in the white house, as they measure our defenses and discover that they are marginal at best. They guffaw with gusto when they see that he has destroyed the value of our money, and they dump their gold and get ready to reap huge profits betting against our house built on sand. The great huffs and puffs of bravado from the deluded wonder in the white house play to an empty house, abandoned by those who are tired of "the tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing".
The sharks are circling, smelling the blood , as America treads water hopeful that there is still time before the predators attack in earnest. Meanwhile, on the golf course, the Leader of the Free World, addled into the belief that His place in history as a great leader, gets another mulligan from his devoted press fans.
America circles the drain.
