Take Action to Stop Human Trafficking in America
The WellHouse began through The Samaritan Woman Ministry.
The mission given to the original ministry was to pray and offer help to the
women who were lost in the Woodlawn community of Birmingham, Alabama. Upon
realizing NO shelters would accept these women unconditionally, it was placed
on our hearts to open a home with NO prerequisites or requirements, other than
being a victim of sexual exploitation.
After
conducting extensive research, the launch team saw the link between
prostitution and human trafficking, thereby broadening the population of women
and girls to be helped.
The
WellHouse is the only 24-‐‑hour shelter offering immediate housing assistance to
women being sexually exploited in the Southeast. In comparison to other shelters,
The WellHouse enables women to breakdown the barriers often undermining their
ability to receive immediate assistance.
We are able
to accept women without any pre-‐‑qualifications, and help residents
receive the assistance they need to obtain identification and documentation to
rebuild their lives.
Together, we
can change the story of these women and children’s lives.
