DID YOU KNOW THAT?

On This Day: In 1860 the Battle of Pease River near the town of Margaret, Texas took place. The battle took place between the Comanche Indians under Peta Nocona and a detachment of Texas Rangers and militia under Ranger Captain "Sul" Ross. ...The Comanches were protecting their ancestral lands from continued encroachment by settlers. Early in the morning, Ross sent 20 of his troops to position themselves behind a chain of sand hills to cut off any retreat, while the rest of his troops charged down into the Comanche camp. Total casualties are unknown, but it is estimated that almost all the Comanche people - women, children, and warriors - were killed.
