DID YOU KNOW THAT?

On This Day: In 1852 Ben Wright and a group of miners massacred a Modoc village on the California/Oregon border near Tule Lake. The miners were hunting Modoc for their alleged theft of supplies from California mines. On the morning of Nov. ...15, Ben Wright walked into the middle of a Modoc village, where the Modoc were drying meat for the winter. He opened his coat and began indiscriminately firing. At the same time, the miners opened fire from all points around the village. Only 5 of the 46 Modoc survived.
