On This Day: In 1865 the Ku Klux Klan was formed. The group, which has had three different iterations, is known for their extremist reactionary currents such as white supremacy, white nationalism, anti-immigration, and racism. Although most often associated with attacks on Africa-Americans, the KKK also threatened, attacked, and in some cases, killed Native Americans in the south. Because the KKK advocated for white supremacy, they often attacked any person of color, threaten...ing families, burning houses and crops, and in some cases chasing people through the woods until they were caught and killed. Although the KKK has lost membership and force, there are still cases of KKK harassment and intimidation of Native Americans and other people of color to this day. WE SAY ENOUGH - TIME TO END RACISM AGAINST ALL PEOPLE. If you do one thing in 2014, it should be to take a stand and say ENOUGH! Racism ends with you! No more being PC, no more letting things slide, NO MORE! I pledge to do my part and to not let racism destroy another person, another family, another community, another culture. I will honor all of the Creator's beautiful work - that is my word from now and forever.
