Ivan Rioufol 61, a French journalist faces a cri...minal trial following a complaint from a pressure group called the “Collective against Islamophobia” in France (CCIF) for remarks made during a radio debate about the influence of Islam. Rioufol, who has been a writer for 28 years at the “Le Figaro” newspaper was accused of ‘defamatory remarks’ against Islam on November 15, 2012 during a RTL radio program called ‘We Reshape the World.’ He objected to the “Collective against Islamophobia” poster campaign, showing pictures of bearded and veiled Moslems with the slogan ‘We are the Nation’. He faces charges of Hate Crimes and a possible prison sentence.
